silencer ring issues

ok... so after reading the other thread about the effects of removing the silencer ring, i decided to give it a try on my 04 with the 305hp. at last count i had three bloodied knuckles, two snapped screwdrivers, and various scrapes and scratches on my arms. i have always considered myself to be fairly mechanically inclined.....

I would salvage the section with the baffles. Mine is sitting in the garage. It's been replaced with a section of pipe from Geno's Garage. PVC would probably work just as well.

My truck needs to go to the dealer, and it's swapped back in.

You can build one cheaper than buying one the parts are 3-4 dollars @ Lowe's all you need is a section 4''PVC pipe 4''coupling glue um together and clean off the all off of the small PVC scraps . Thin paint it black. And your done.Good luck

The only difference it will make is in the sound. Do not expect any performance gains.......

I used a 1/0 (big) fishing hook, held with a pair of vice grips. Lift the ind of thering then run the hook around the circumferance, should pop right out.

I eventually got mad at mine and cut it with some tin snips! Easy to pull out then.

Somebody mentioned to hold a mirror down under the turbo so you can see it better from above. Might have been hoot. Anyhow, I didn't have a small mirror -- so I tossed a rock down on a bigger one I didn't need and used a small piece of it to see what I was doing. Used a tiny screwdriver, the size a little bigger than people use to tighten up their glasses, to get under it in the gap where the ring ends join and it popped right out. No problems after I got the mirror.
