should I reflash or not

I have an 05 dually 6spd and can have the reflash done for better mileage and stop the white smoke on start up the only thing is I have heard that sometimes it can make the mileage worse. I get 14.5 at 75mph (with conditioner) and have about 8500 miles on her. I dont like the mileage now and would hate to see it worse. I know a guy with an 04 dually who gets 10mpg know matter what he does. and he had a reflash as well. What do you guys think I should do? oh and at best I can get 15mpg at 70mph. I figure that the poor fuel mileage was a trait of the duallys.

I tried the reflash in my 02 and there wasn't a lot of difference. IMHO you are doing pretty well at 75 mph with ac getting 14.5. Fuel mileage really goes down above 60 - 65. Also I'm not convinced my truck runs as well after the reflash. I would not do it knowing what I know now!

Ugh...I am pretty sure your 2002 and local's 2005 take different reflashes. So comparing the two doesn't make sense. I had the reflash done on my 2004.5. It helped fuel mileage by at least 2.0 mpg. Engine idles a little rough at start up though. But still has lots or even more power.

PapaPerk Of course you are right about different systems not being comparable. Just my .02. Quite alot of different posts with mixed success concerning reflashes.

I got the reflash on mine and it improved about 2mpg. The smoke stopped which I liked and it hasn't caused any other problems for me. I say go for it.
