04 ctd died

Hi,

I have a 100% stock, ctd, 4wd, auto. it has about 220k. Yesterday, i swapped out the main battery & put in my weaker battery. I don't think the battery is anything to do w/ the issue i have.
I started truck up & moved it a few feet. Then stopped it for a few hours. I restarted it, it idled a few minutes and died. I tried to restart, it cranks, but that's it. I added 5 gallons of fuel, & primed it by turning the key a bunch of times. I didn't hear any fuel pump from tank come on. I then took the fuel filter out & it did have some fuel down below. I then turned the key a couple times to c if i was getting any fuel. I didn't get any added to it. I'm pretty sure the in tank pump is supposed to add fuel to the can. I did change the filter earlier last summer. The truck has no mods at all. i was wandering if the small pump behing the filter is bad or is it the tank pump or both ? Stuck in my driveway !!

1) why did you install "weaker battery". If computer does not see proper voltage you can experience many weird things happening.
2) you should hear pump in tank run when you turn key to on position. Your 2004 does not have a pump on filter canister. If pump doesn't run either a fuse or fuel relay is shot. Check under lid of relay/fuse panel next to battery for identifiers.
3) you say you turned key on several time. Did air intake heater symbol light up then turn off? Did your water in fuel symbol light up? What is your fuel level?
4) have you any trouble codes (turn key on and off 3 times without starting engine and codes in this pattern ( 00 00) should show up on instrument mileage indicator. Hold trip reset down then turn key to on and release trip button. Codes will show up.

I put the weaker battery in because I used the better one in my kubota 2 use it. I did put that battery on charge earlier today. I haven't checked the codes or fuses yet. As of yesterday i didn't hear the pump working.
I will try again tomorrow.

No Start

On my 06 I had to bump the starter to get the fuel pump to run. Mike
