Rotating Tires
 

I was wondering what is the best way to rotate tires? From front to back and back to front keeping tires on the same side they were on,or the traditional back to front and the fronts going from left front to right rear and right front to left rear? I have heard that changing the rotation of tires will make the belts separate,is this true?

i thought your bfg m/ts were directional tires so all you can do is rotate back to front.

That was on my old truck. I'm talking about the stock Michelins, well about any tire really!

With trucks and RWD cars I always use the front to rear (same side) method.

I used the back to front and cross the front when going to the back method on my stock Mich's and got 60K out of them. Did the same with my last truck ('04 Ferd with BFG Rugged trail) got 74K out of them. Never had any issues with the tires at all. I also ran 70 psi back and 65 up front.

You always cross rotate to the driving wheels. So with our trucks, the front tires are crossed to the rear and the rear come up to the front. Look in the owners manual.

If you have directional tires then rotate front to back.

Used to work at tire shop. We always rotated fronts straight back and then rears crossing to the front. This method has given me 30,000 miles so far on the Nitto's and absolutely no un-correctable tire wear.

I always have gone by what is in the owners manual but a while back a tire shop here locally said that they no longer did the cross method because tires only need to stay always going the same direction. I dunno???

every other tire rotation i will cross the front tires to back. i got 57,000 miles out of my bfg ta/ko's which are rated for 50,000 miles.

I alternate the 2 methods. I got criss cross and then front to back so far so good. Keep doing it this way for 2 years. 52k and Lincoln's head still disappears almost to his eyes. Got stock Michelin's.
