Replacing Rear driveshaft U-Joint on 06 3500

I started to replace my rear u joint on my driveshaft on the axle side. i have done this twice on my 2500 and it was easy, take the clips out and hammer the joint out. Well on my 06 3500 it didn't have snap rings but instead its got these little holes on 2 sides of the 4 cap holes with a plastic pin or something. How the heck do i get the joint out??? lol

i tried hammering it out but no luck.

i just take a angle grinder and cut out the center section and hammer the 4 bits out [guitar]

sounds like glued in caps. Used to be, you would take a propane torch, and heat the bosses, the plastic "glue" would turn to liquid, and almost shoot out of those holes, then you could press the caps out normally. replacement joints had either internal or external snap rings.

nice, that sounds like a good idea.

Method three: Use a ball joint press to force the joint out. This is the method I used, and I would NOT recommend it. The torch is the recommended method.....

That's how I did mine! [coffee]

I found heating them a bit with an oxy/act torch helped, but probaby not required.

I shot a little video when I did mine.
