Rearend/Frontend
Rearend/Frontend
Is dodge still using a Dana 60 up front and a Dana 60 rear (2500 series) or Dana 70 (2500HD)? I was at the dealer today and couldn't tell if they are using something different now.
Re:Rearend/Frontend
yep, no more dana's, the new AAM axles are similar to "corporate" 14 bolts used in GM's cept now AAM has come out with a front axle version.

the last month's issue of 4wheel and offroad has a pretty write up on all the details of these new axles
Re:Rearend/Frontend
American Axle makes a "FRONT AXLE - 9 1/4 AA" for the 2003 Ram. There are two American Axles made for rear applications in the 2003 Ram, "REAR AXLE - 10 1/2 AA" and "REAR AXLE - 11 1/2 AA"
All 4:10 ratios with Trac Rite Diff have the 11 1/2", 2500 & 3500.
All 4 x 4 2500 & 3500 have the 9 1/4" front axle. There is no 10 1/2" front axle. 8)

Re:Rearend/Frontend
What is the strength rating on these axles? I mean, are they comparable to what they replaced? How about aftermarket upgrades (i.e. arb air lockers, detroits, etc)?
