Rear End Slippage

Ok so i have asked this question to local friends and no one seems to have my answer. I have a 2004.5 dodge ram cummins 2500 slt in the rain or when i gun it at a light or im burning tires only one wheel spins (i believe the passenger) this gets very annoying because i can never seem to get traction ever. For example this dude was driving so slow so i guned it to pass him in the 3 rd lane and one wheel broke loose and kept spinning till i let off the gas. what gives? I do have a mag hytech diff cover. I put the additive that was suggested from a local shop. Please help!

does your truck have the posi or "anti spin differental"? you can look in your glove box to see if it does, it should be listed. i have the problem of not being able to get traction at 70ish in the rain...if i roll in the throttle and it pulls 40# of boost...then i take up both lanes. i have to throw it in 4x4 to pass.

they way they work is by sensin resistance, no resistance = one wheel spin, fix = apply a bit of brake , then you will get both spinnin. 4x4 is the only way I can get on it in the rain without the back end trying to take the lead.

I don't have anti-spin diffy and my truck will do roll on burnouts in any gear with smarty on 5x5 in rain and up through 3rd dry in 2wd.
Stock it will only spin up to 4th in the rain. 600+ft lbs of torque + small tires = spin funtime.

drive even slower, go 4wd, weight in the bed or get some suv goodyear ultragrip tires on 22s, what?

Yep, when one tire spins the rear doesn't wash out like an LS or locker. You either don't have an LS or have a non-functional one. The fluid is not going to effect it so its something else.

Have you checked whether the AAM axle has a Trac-Rite differential?

You can call a dealer with your VIN if you can't find it on the label...

They grab harder than fresh clutches in a Dana.

Depends, if you have the Anti-spin then yes, if you have an open diff then there is no need, as it's doing what it's supposed to.

ok so i cant find this label that yu are talking about but if i call the dodge delear with my vin number he can tell me what rear end i have correct? if i have an open diff then what i am expirencing is normal and there is no fix. But if its anti-spin then i need to get it checked.
Just making sure before i drop money to see if there even a problem

you are correct, the dealer can tell you what your truck came equiped w/ from the factory by the vin. mine still has the lable in the glove box, but i guess yours fell off. the only fix if you don't have it is to get one put in. then you call lay the hamme down and not have as much of an issue w/ traction.
