Rear Driveshaft Support Bearing--> How do I know its bad?

I've got a slight vibe/noise on coast when driving at 40-50mph. Looking at the driveshaft the u-joints seem good but I did notice that the rubber in support bearing seems to have pulled away from its outer housing.

How can I tell what to look for when these things start to go? A new one is only availabe from the dealer for $250(cdn), NAPA is back ordered on it. I'll be in the US in 3 weeks but would hate for it to fail along the way with the 17K trailer on the back.....

How hard is it so swap? Is it pressed onto the driveshaft or just sits on there?

Normally the bearing is a snug fit.My need a puller. Mine is still the original so Im not sure how hard it is to change. On my buddys 02 , he had a vibration and after a road test , found the drive line was warm by the steady bearing. Take it for a drive and then when you come back, check for heat on the u-joint caps (could still be a u-joint) and around the steady bearing. Check for any movement at the bearing itself. and check the u-joints again. Have seen when the u-joint is tight one time then after road test it has movement. Just my thoughts.

Mine was on super tight, needed to use a press to get it off. U-joints were all good.

Unfortunately it didn't solve my growling problem. Drained an filled the t-case, otehr than the fluid being a bit dark it looked ok. Rear diff was drained and filled last month and it was ok.

Going to monitor it for awhile and see if it gets worse.

I had a vibration problem with my truck also, turns out I had two cracked U-joints and needed a new front flange
