Question, new to the diesel world!

Just bought a used 2004.5 Dodge 2500 4x4. Coming up on the first oil change, what should I use. My dad has a 2003 2500 and he said to use Rotella. Is this a good oil for the diesel? Don't know much about diesels, but I sure do love this one. If it matters, I'll be using it as a daily driver and towing a 32' 5th wheel about once a month. Thanks for any advice in advance.

Give the server a minute. Lots and lots of people are on the site at this time, and when too many people are on, the server disables things like search, posting, etc, until the flow is down. Just wait and try every now and then, itll work...

Welcome to the fourm

Use a good filter
Good to stay away from Phram (not cummins approved)
(but I used them on my 01 for 90,000 mi with no problems)

Now I use fleet guard

Mobil 1 truck and suv motor oil is supposed to be near the top along with amsoil. Both are synthetics so make sure you don't use synthetic oil until you are comfortable with motor brake in (25-30K miles depending on how much it's been worked hard).
