Poll, how long are you going between oil changes, thinking of upping my intervals.

Thinking of going to 10K on oil and fuel filter. That way I only have to get dirty once every few months.

Also wondering what good oil filter I should use with my Delo 15-40.

This pertains to pure petroleum only NOT SYNTHETIC! Although I'll put that option so you can voice your opinion .

Also, who uses the oil analysis labs and how much do they cost.

Post your service duty and answer below if you want....

have you been taking oil samples before hand? I just go to the local kenworth dealer and buy kits $18 and some change, then go to UPS and mail them off in 1 box. shipped a box yesterday that had front/rear diff and t case. cost $7 and some change. will be sending engine oil out on the 20th when I change oil. I am not going to extend my oil change past 5000 until i start sending in samples and let them tell me it is ok to go further plus i am installing an amsoil bmk-11 bypass system. have a friend that has that system on her truck and each oil sample comes back cleaner than the last.

No, I'm only on my second oil change 07 5.9L. Think I'll go to 8500-9000 this time and send in a sample.

I would stick to the interval you have now and wait for a sample to come back. the place you send the samples to should recommend an extension but might want some history first. would rather be safe than sorry.

Same year and engine, my first change was done by the dealer, so no oil sample, my second change was done by me, and I sent in a sample - oil had around 7,000 - 7,500 miles on it, can't remember exactly - I sent in a sample to Blackstone, they came back and said to extend my next change to 8,500 - 9,000.... FWIW

I would recommend sending in a sample before you start extending, all trucks and engines break in and wear differently, so going by what someone else does may or may not be a good idea....

Like you said, all engines and driving habits are different. I have approx 40k on my truck but do not tow. The last sample I had the TBN was 7 and soot was 161 with Premium Blue at 10k on the oil. It was well within spec to run to 15k but I change it at 10k normally. I will change it at 5k when I spend time at the drag strip. I figure it is the least I can do for my engine after I thrash on it.

7500 miles here. Do the fuel filter at the same time so I don't forget about it.

I do the oil and fuel at 5k. I use Rotella T 15/40 all year and only Fleetguard Stratopore filters for both oil and fuel.
