Pennzoil 15w-40 Long Life

Has anyone used this oil and experiences?

Thanks

PS: I prefer not to hear about DELO/ROTELLA/DELVAC/ASMOIL/ROYAL PURPLE/REDLINE products

Unless Pennzoil has reformulated their base stock, pesonally I would never use it. Penn oil (Pennzoil and Quaker State) is parafin based as apposed to ash based. But, maybe things have changed. I'm sure someone will chime in about it. There are folks that will swear by it, but I believe it gums up the engine.

No Pennzoil, No Fram

Is the long life dino or syn?

Later
Pete

P.S. We go to Killen and Temple a lot. Also go to the drags in Little River.

I just want to know about the Pennzoil Long Life. I have not seen that much discussion here or at Bobstheoilguy about it.

I already use Amsoil 15w-40 Marine Diesel synthetic oil and Stratapore Oil filters and change oil at 7500k.

While I have never experienced Pennzoil products firsthand, two personal friends of mine who have been mechanics for years have witnessed time and again the destruction this oil can cause. It seems to be the worst at controlling deposits and impurities (like it has no detergent).

You already use one of the best oils out there so why worry about it
If you want to add some more mileage to that oil then install a AMSOIL Dual Guarge By-Pass System and their Air filter and do the oil samples like I am doing. You should be able to extend your you oil changes out to about 1 year and only have to add make up oil when you install the oil filter and or by-pass filter. YOu may get lucky and even go longer

I have the TS-189 Foam Air Filter in right now and am thinking about changing to the AFE P7 OEM drop-in replacement. I read somewhere, can't remember where, Cummins doesn't recommend the oiled/foam air cleaners. Don't think the TS-189 is hurting the engine at all, just concerned about warranty issues. I have read that the Amsoil Foamed air cleaner causes the silicone levels to rise in the oil, meaning there's dirt getting into the engine. That's why I do not want to go to extended drain intervals either. I'm just not comfortable with extended drains...guess I'm old school. I have been reading alot of UOA and other stuff on Bobstheoilguy website.

The OIL soaked air filters that Cummins is talking about are the gauze soaked type, aminly because the gauze usually bunches up and or the oil is sucked out of it and clogs up the Turbo. Any of them will cause oil to get into the Turbp if it has way too muck oil in it but I can say that the AMSOIL and http://trueflow.com/ are the best that I have seen. I use the AMSOIL air filter and I have seen a bigger difference between it and AIRRAID. The TURBO seems to spool up faster.
I don't worry about the warranty because DC & Cummins has to prove that what I did caused the damage to what ever is broke or not working correctly.
As far as the oil changes, with the TRIGARD system (BY-PASS) and sending in the oil samples for analysis they will let me know exactly what is happening to the oil and engine. This will save me money by not changing the oil as often
Oh well we each do what we must and want to do anyway.
I just wanted to get my .01 worth.
