P2122 code

having used the search function on here,

i see that it is either an APPS, or TPS issue that i am having with the truck. The questions that i have are.

One, where is that particular sensor on my 05 3500?
Two, how much is it?
Three, how much of a hassle is it to change it?
Four, is the dealership the only place i can get this thing from?

I have read about the reset function on the truck for the TPS or APPS, and have not tried it yet, but for what its worth, this is what happened, and it led me to believe the problem might be with the TPS before i even got the codes...

I was driving to work, and at about 45 mph, the truck just felt like it hit a wall, powerwise, then the power just came on all of a sudden again as it accelerated slowly. soon as it did that, the check engine light came on, and i knew i had a problem. I went to autozone after work at midnite, and had a code reader there, i came up with code P2122, of coarse i came back and searched and found it to be Pedal position Sensor 1 low....

hence the questions above..

thanks in advance for your help

Rick

The APPS is the accelerator pedal assembly. It's either a short, the ECM, or the APPS. I would have them hook the Star Scan up to make sure it's the APPS. Save you some $$$$ and the aggravation of it not being the problem.

The Star Scan is what the dealer uses to read all the info in the ECM. I don't have the part # for the APPS, but the dealer should have one.

it looks like you have the APPS that lives on top of your engine. Do a search on "Timbo APPS". This guy sells an aftermarket alternative for $160, as opposed to the dealer $500 part.

good morning, afternoon or evening..

Happy thanksgivin to all, well since i have last posted on here, i can venture to say, after learnin alot more on my CR, i have discovered that replacin the APPS switch DID NOT solve my problem..

cycling the key three times did this...

P0483 cooling fan speed (im guessin the fan clutch is goin bad, AC isnt as cold in my 3500 as it is in my 2500 which does NOT throw that code..)

P0541 grid heather relay 1 low (self explanatory im assuming)

P2121 APPS operation intermident/rationale?

P2122 APPS voltage 1 low

Now i have replaced the APPS with a factory one from dodge, found the part online, and was hard enough to do due to them being on national back order for lord knows how long...

I still recieve all of the above codes, adn the CEL comes on every once in a while, and then all of a sudden disappears.. i am totally clueless as towards what in the world is wrong with this thing,

would any of the other DTCs cause my NEW apps to malfunction?

please help me fellas, i am nearing the end of my rope with this thing already...

Rick

Have you hooked it up to a Star Scan yet?

It'll be cheaper than throwing parts at it, like 06RAM2500 said previously.

easier said than done megacab dad

the dodge dealership in laredo CLOSED its doors.. went outta business... nearest one is in pleasenton texas... 140 miles away.. havent yet for that reason, yet i am still stumped on the truck... even then when i called about it, they wanted 275 dollars just to hook it up to the starscan, and it was a five day wait.... "they were backed up on work" (yet went outta business)

hopefully the one in pleasenton (should it go that way) wont be as uptight
