overdrive snap ring and drum?

Hey,

I have a 2004.5 dodge with the 48re transmission on it. I just took it in to get the transmission serviced and they told me that a snap ring between 3rd and overdrive was partially broke. They said it was a common problem and would be a little under a grand to fix. I was wondering what you guys think about the issue. If you could give me some feedback on what I should do that would be great.

Thanks

i have only seen that around two times. and i have done over a hundred 48re rebuilds. there is those freak accidents that happen some times. And i have seen snap rings in pans before. There is not much u can really do but fix it. the material may have not been that strong from factory like a bad batch of snap rings.

Ok. Thanks. The guy said that I could run on it but if i ignore the issue it will ruin my transmission eventurally. I have the pieces. It is at least half of the ring. The truck seems to drive good though. Do you know if they make a heavier duty one?
