Ok so laugh at me if you will...

For those who still own AFE or equivelent filter that still needs cleaning and oiling I kind of have a embarassing but great way to clean your filters...
So in no way am I affiliated with this product or anything and I think Billy Mays is a bit of a nut. But Oxi-Clean...yes Oxi-Clean. I took my filter and I used warm water with a hint of dish soap in a bucket to clean it. Let it dry, then used the AFE cleaning stuff in the spray bottle. And once again rinsed clean. Now mind you alot of dirt and old oil came free from the filter and did a fairly decent job. But you know as well as I do, the filter never gets as clean as the day you brought it home or as clean as you'd like it to be. So then I kind of got this dumb idea. The misses bought some Oxi-Clean at Costco to use for my work clothes to help clean them (Im a welder so cutting oil and various other stains are common on my clothes). So I thought "ahh what hey" It claims to be a "Stain Specialist!" And safe to use on ALL materials... So i filled the bucket once again with some warm water, NOT hot. In goes one dose of Oxi-Clean. Put the filter in the bucket and kind of spun the filter to help break the dirt and such loose. Within about 1/2 a second the water literally dirt almost black! So I thought no way! And continued to spin the filter, the water got more and more dirty. Dumped the water out and the amount of dirt that was on the bottom of the bucket was unreal. So I filled the bucket yet again, another dose of the Oxi-Clean. The water turned a light grey color but still LOTS of dirt. After the second run I rinsed the filter clean with the hose with NO pressure just let the water sort of fall down the filter and the filter was white. Almost as white as the day I pulled it out of the box. I have never been able to get the filter this clean. No matter how much AFE cleaner I used. So anyway, if you want to clean your filter fairly well. I recomend using this stuff. I hate info-mercials, but I sadly have to say this junk actually appears to kinda work... Well laugh at me if you want but I thought Id pass my good expeirence on to others seeking a more clean air filter.

I use Oxi-Clean products on lots of things and in general they work better than most things. I never thought to try on the filters. I always use Simple Green, but next time I will try the white shirt test with Oxi-Clean after the Simple Green. Thanks for the info.

As Mike Rowe would say, "It looks like poo. Are you sure it is not Poo? There is always some poo."

Who needs a ford, just let Mike take care of it for you. He always trying to screw things up.
