I like Rotella but any of the major brands (Delo, Valvoline premium blue, Delvac) are all fine. Just change it regularly. I do mine every 5k for simplicity.

It is a smell that can't be described, just experienced. I don't mind the smell, it goes away after a couple of hundred miles.

I use Rotella in all my diesel engines; Mack 460, Cummins 325 and Kubota V-1902. I have 16 cases of the stuff downstairs just waiting to smell up the neighborhood.
