Oil samples/ lab results

I got my oil sampling kit in the mail and was just curious about the report. For those that have had this done: Does the report contain layman type terminology where the average Joe can understand it? Can they tell if an injector is leaking fuel into the oil with the Flash test? I'm using Blackstone Labs, anyone else here ever use them? Who do you do your tests with? Thanks guys and gals!

Here's the field names that indicate what they are testing:

COMPONENT ID, MAKE, MODEL, UNIT NUMBER, FUEL TYPE, COMPONENT TYPE, CTC NUMBER, GRADE, TIME ON OIL, TIME ON UNIT, SAMPLE FREQUENCY, BRAND, OIL TYPE, DATE SAMPLE TAKEN, DATE SAMPLE TESTED, TBN, SOOT, FE, CR, PB, CU, SN, AL, NI, AG, MN, SI, B, NA, MG, CA, BA, P, ZN, MO, TI, V, K, GLYCOL, FLASH POINT, FUEL DILUTION, VISC @40, VISC @100, WATER%, SOLIDS%, COMPANY NAME, RECOMMENDATION

However, I do use Amsoil for my testing. Not sure about blackstones' site...Amsoil, I can download the results, then analyze them further in Excel.

I use Blackstone. Yes you'll be able to understand it. Don't know what a flash test is but there will be a number for fuel in oil... a percentage I believe.

The report is real easy to understand. On their web site they have a sample report and a page that explains some of the other stuff. In the report they give a 3 or 4 sentence statement explaining the results. They also show what the normal results should be.

I don't remember exactly but I think it was $20 for one sample and you can prepay for more. They told me I could use an empty water bottle with 4 or so ounces and send it in. It best if you know the oil, miles on the oil, miles on truck and date of sample. The plastic water bottles are pretty indestructible. I prepay and get (6) sample kits, you get a price break and for (6) it is around $16 each. I got the suction pump from them and that was $20. I got some smaller tubing and connected it to the 1/4" tubing so I can pull it thru the dipstick.

I have used Blackstone's for my testing. It is very easy to read the report. The comfort in knowing that in most cases you can extend your drain intervals will usually end up paying the price of the test itself. What I want to know is has anybody done there rear diff.? I don't see how they (DC) can claim synthetic gear oil either never needs to be changed (no heavy towing) or every 15,000 (with towing). I think I will send a rear diff. sample next time I send my oil in and see how it turns out.

I caught my sample and sent it out today. Thanks for the responses. If you go to their website and order the free sample kit, it arrives quickly. They say they can test a lot of fluids including tranny and power steering. The kit was straight forward and the basic test costs $22.50 plus postage to get it to them. Its $10.00 to do the extra test to see about extending your oil change intervals. If the results come back good, its just that much more of a secure feeling about your truck.
