Oil Change and other Checks
Oil Change and other Checks
The two schedules listed for oil changes are every 15,000 miles for A, and 7,500 for schedule B. Since I tow an RV I don't see how I would qualify for schedule A, so it will be B for me and most people. California trucks have a different change interval I think. The owner's manual is not understood completely by me.

It list 3750 miles for other items that need checked and inspected under Schedule B. Does this mean that I must take my vehicle in every 3750 miles even though the oil does not need to be changed until it reaches 7500 miles?

What do all of you understand concenring the manual?
Re:Oil Change and other Checks
Look at the symbols in the column headings. Some refer to CA trucks only. Your truck requires service at 7,500 unless you live in a state with special emmisions requirements. I incorporated the service manual info into my own spread sheet so I could keep it straight.

Casey
Re:Oil Change and other Checks
My owners manual is highlighted by the dealer that almost no trucks will follow the 15000 interval. Heck everybody does one or two small trips once in a while. I am splitting the difference and going between the two, although I think I could go with schedule A with the driving I do...
Also see the other thread https://www.dieseltruckresource.com/...threadid=11406
HTH
Re:Oil Change and other Checks
Hi Casey,

Right I understand that I am on Schedule B but since I am not in CA I still would not change my oil until 7500 miles. That is clear to me. On schedule B it lists other items that need checking at 3750 miles, etc.. Does that mean to keep my warranty that I need to take my vehicle in at 3750 miles to get the dealer to check transmission levels, etc.

I am not sure that is the intent but just trying to get a reading on what others were reading. Maybe I am reading in something that does not exist.

If anyone wants a copy email me at cbalvert@mnsi.net with your preference of Excel or PDF format. Might as well save you some work. The Owner's manual is way too confusing.

No other service is indicated with an "X". Of course checking oil and other fluid levels when refueling is prudent especially early in the life of the vehicle. Casey
Casey, I must learn how to read. Upon re-reading the Maintenance book it is very clear. What was I thinking. Another senior moment.

Thanks for bring it to my attention.
