Oil change at dealer

So, I received this $16.95 coupon from my local dealer for an oil change. That is just a little bit more than the cost of the filter. I think they want too give my truck the once over and then the up sell...any thoughts guys and gals? Should I go in and say don't touch or look at anything unless it is directly involved with an oil change?

What do you think you'll get for $17? You'll get the cheapest oil and filter the dealer can get their hands on, and they'll still lose money on it. I wouldn't be surprised if the fine print says, "Except diesel".

And, yes, their goal is to get you in there and then upsell like the most crooked salesman in the state.

If you're willing to get another oil change in 3-4,000 miles, and put up with the salesman's BS, go for it. Personally, I wouldn't even consider it. Not worth the hassle to me.

When my rigs warmed up (oil hot) and I have everything righ tthere to do a change, I can get it done in about 20 minutes tops. It ain't worth the headache to even take the time to go to the dealer when I can do what I WANT TO DO and be done before they could even get it in a bay.

Not really a dealer has to use a Mopar oil filter and 15w40 Quaker state motor oil. If you don't want any work done other then oil change just decline any other work its that easy. I have changed more engines because of Jiffy Lube techs leaving oil filter loose or double gasket on the oil filter.

Chrysler also offers a service contract, 4 oil and filter changes for $165.00 (if I remember correctly) that has to be used in 2 years. It can be redeemed at any Dodge dealer. Not a bad deal.

I have lifetime oil changes since 2004 and each time I go in, they do the once over, while changing the oil. SA always comes back and says everything is in great order.
