"Brass on a magnet?????" Yes, when the magnet is the lowest point in the trans and other metals are stuck to the magnet, brass and other material get pooled and mixed in as well on or around the magnet.

I was just thinking the same thing! theres no way you can throw a gear in at WOT! Either that, or i havent been driving trucks long enough !!!

Besides that NV5600 tranny is one heavy bugger! i cant imagine how heavy all the gears and syncros are in that darn thing! Quick shifts my rear!!!

lol, dont take this offensively but thats just what i think!

ok, general consensus as Im still droooling... G45 worth the $400 extra? I dont plan on towing much (like that will last), but I do plan on driving it like a truck and will be in 4x4.

btw, the cheaper I can get the truck, possibly, the sooner I can get one..

I can't believe that there isn't anyone else on this forum who has "power shifted" or "speed shifted" their truck. With the amount of people taking their trucks to the drag strips, not one person has done this?

I can only tell you that I have done it. If you chose not to believe me, its your right.

I learned it from my dad drag racing. If you have never power shifted a bigblock nova with a muncie rock crusher, you are missing out, big time.

I am also not the only one who isn't all that worried about how long it will last. But then again, its not what you know, its who you know.

Our work truck is an automatic. the last manual transmission I have driven was an old 92 Toyota that I only had to clutch for stopping.
I would rather have a manual, but I dont want to sound like a school bus driver.

I agree with fountain1fan.

I am also a fountain boat fan. Do you have one? I can't afford one, but a Fountain 35 lightning with #6 drives and Merc 1075SCi's wouldn't be a bad boat to have.

You gotta have goals!

Thumbs down New G56 a smart move? .... maybe NOT!

As I posted in another thread on this forum, the new dule mass flywheel can be and will be a nightmare. Many more things to go wrong and don't even think of "juicing" the truck up, apparently anything above stock will ruin the center bearing/friction ring and other components.

Check out Standard Transmission's explaination of the DMF with symptons of failure and the fixes. Then check out there DMF conversion to a single mass flywheel and clutch kits for the Fords. Apparently a hot seller.

the ford guys HATE there dual mass setup. why is Dodge going this route? if new tranny is just as good as NV5600 why can't they use a single one piece flywheel. they are less $ also.

I never said powershifting was impossible...just a tit hard with the big NV. Yea, a Rock Crusher is a bit different, weight wise etc, but its the same concept. I know how to power shift ETC, but i dont feel like grinding a gear once in a while and reducing a trannys life....They are way too expensive to fix! Dont worry man, im not that stupid I was just sayin u gotta let off the pedal!!!lol

At 360 lbs, the NV5600 is a boat anchor. Yep, big and heavy, just what I like about it. No woes since new. It pulls my 16,000 lbs around just fine. I read that there is no trans oil replacement interval in the maintainance manual. I also read that you do not want to give it big torque down below 1400 rpm. If I do, it does rattle.
My Bro has a 99' Super Duty w/6 speed ZF. He blew 6th gear at about 100K mi. Those are eee-spensive trannies to work on.
The new MB 6 spd. trannies have a slightly lower 1st gear and look pretty stout on paper.
Time will tell.
regards, as always, jefe
