No black smoke after injector change?
Seems my used truck I bought a couple years ago (2004.5) was always needing injectors. According to the test results (sent out for testing) all the injectors had issues. I had a shop install a reman set and now this truck will not blow any black smoke. I am confused by this. Here are my concerns. Please do laugh or poke fun as I love humor~.
1. Truck mileage went down quite a bit (I've read where a lot of trucks do this)
2. Truck seems sluggish under 1500 rpms. Over 1500 rpms it ramps up and hauls butt really well.
3. No more black smoke when I go WFO? < is this how they really are supposed to run? (This is my first diesel truck btw)
4. Truck seems to be running a little hotter but not by much. Fan Clutch kicks on a bit more often. I only have stock gauges.
5. Does the ECM "learn" fuel injector patterns have changed and needs to adapt?
6. Do I worry too much?

Did it smoke before? Did the truck have aftermarket injectors and the reman set is a stock equivalent? If you fill out your signature with the particulars of your truck more people will be able to chime in I'm sure.

Yes, it did smoke, about like any diesel would, I thought. I have no idea what injectors where in it. hmm. That is an interesting thought. What if?
When I WFO, it would dust some coal. I miss that. Granted the truck is faster than its ever been with the new injectors, Just weird to look back and not see any coal clouds. Seems abnormal.
A little info on my truck in the sig now. Really not much to say. One day maybe I'll add a programmer.

Sounds like your injectors were worn out....LOL That or you have a connector tube that is not seated well causing a bypass of fuel back to the tank. Wish you had a rail pressure reading before and after. That would be interesting.

LOL probably so. I don't think the original owner did anything but drive it. I bought it at a good price so I don't mind putting in a few thousand bucks. I was just looking at a set of gauges, hard to decide which ones!
Day 3 with new injectors, I added some standyne to the fuel and the truck has never started better. I'm feeling pretty good about it, still nervous I'm going to cook a piston or something. HAHA
