New truck questions

Been at the dieselstop.com forum for a couple of years now but this is my first post here. Had a 99 Dodge 2500 diesel that I sold for a 03 F-250 6.0 diesel. After 40 days in the shop, with less than 10,000 miles, I did the dispute settlement board & Ford bought it back. Now I drive a 03 7.3 f-250 that I bought used.

My rear end is still pretty sore about the way Ford treated me over the $42,000. truck that they ultimately bought back. I'm in the market for a new diesel and the 06 Megacab diesel looks like it would make a great replacement.

I am pretty knowledgeable about the Ford Diesels now, but haven't kept up on the Dodge. When I sold my Dodge there was an issue with transmissions. Has Dodge addressed this issue. Are there any other major issues I should be exploring with the new Dodge trucks. Any advice? I'll be going out to test drive one in the next few days..... thanx al

Dodge seems to have fixed many of it's old problems but still has a few. The 48RE tranny seems toi be very stout until you start bombing the truck, the in tank fuel pump seems to have fixed a re-ocurring problem with the old on the engine pumps. Over all the ewer trucks seem to get a little less MPG than the older ones but after 20000 miles or so can and do get 18-21 MPG highway empty at 70 MPH or around 2000 RPM much over that and milage begins to drop quickly.

The lack of inner fender liners (their optional) and a few other minor items that DC ahs cheapened up overall the truck seems to be quite good. Power is strong and HP not bad, 325 HP and 610 Lbs tourque. Comfort is fine and creature comforts seem quite good.

Having only owned Dodge trucks I personally have nothing to compare it to other than posts I have read here.

Good luck and enjoy your truck...
