New CLutch, Pedal Adjustment?!?
New CLutch, Pedal Adjustment?!?
OK, SO I have had my new clutch in for a week ( Valair DD). The pedal was really stiff when I first picked it up but has kind of broken in over the last 700 miles or so. I have to give it SLIGHT throttle when starting out in 2nd gear from a dead stop is the only difference I feel over stock. TO me the clutch engages near the top. I just happened to read on another forum by accident that it should engage half way out and you should not need to give throttle?
In first gear you do NOT need to give throttle, only 2nd, and of course I never try and go from a stop in any other higher gears. LOL If I am slightly moving forward even a few MPH then I do Not need to give throttle in 2nd gear. Installer said it was adjustable. I thought it was just the feel of the bigger better clutch over stock? Should I have it adjusted? How hard is it to do and about how long does it take? Thanks!

If its STOCK pedal it cannot be adjusted! When I purchased my new valair clutch it came with the upgraded Hydros. Included in those is an adjustable pedal rod. When you install it goes all the way out and it felt fine. As the clutch broke in over the first week or so my trans was engaging when it was almost ALL the way out. Its supposed to Begin engagement 2/3 to the floor and be all the way out by half way up. Anyway, there is a jam nut and all you have to do is loosen it up, slide the pedal down where you want it, and lock it back up. I had a pinched nerve in my back so laying there upside down on the floorboard was not working. I took it back to the installer and they adjusted in in about 3 minutes.
Yeah when I fist got in it with the new clutch I thought i may have left my truck in neutral when i was letting off the clutch. I had to extend it all the way out to go and was getting all sorts of vibrations. Thanks for the info
