I can only assume you are talking about the "cold idle" feature. It will idle up when extended idling in cold weather. Several conditions have to be met......no brake pedal input, temp below 32* ( I think ), no apps input, yada yada yada. You don't have the ability to idle it up with the cruise buttons on the 03. People say it won't, but mine has the 3 cyl. idle as well. Sounds wierd! I'll look first thing in the a.m. to go thru the screens step by step to get to the features.

Just noticed your location, so I should have it on there in plenty of time for ya! IIRC you are 3 hrs behind us here in EDST ( eastern daylight savings time) You have to love Indiana, if you haven't heard about it on the news, we just switched time zones earlier this year........some counties are the same, others changed, and all that hadn't before, are now observing daylight savings time! Made for a lot of confused people for awhile! I was in a courthouse that had different offices observing different times because of government funding and such!?!?! Talk about screwed up! At a county fair a kid asked the governor if he knew what time it was where he was at right now........couldn't answer! LOL

O.k. here we go from step 1 !

1- Smack vzdude in the back of the head!
2 - remind vzdude that it is automatic on the 3rd gen ( the auto idle up that is)
3 - explain to vzdude that he has a 2nd gen truck in his head! ( they can be turned on and off)
4 - tell vzdude that the 04.5 and up can be turned on to work with the cruise feature

Sorry man, I had severe brain fade last night I guess. I know mine worked, and assumed I had turned it on. I went through every screen today, and it isn't a programmable feature. I'll try to do better in the future!

you may need to have this tsb http://dodgeram.info/tsb/2004/18-004-04.htm done first then they will be able to enable it. Yes it is for an 04, but have them go by the engine serial number as mine is an 305/555 motor also and I got it done.

good luck.

The smarty should do it for you... do you have one of the newer downloads off the website installed? If so, after starting truck, turn on cruise then hit the "set" button once. It should idle up to 1100 rpm.

Ok, I can't get it through my thick skull Does this feature work on the 03 trucks w/ the 305/555 engine or not?

according to the tsb if your engine falls before the serial number 57130284 or early then yes, which I would think is the late 03's to early 04"s 305/555which need the update first then enabled. 04.5 325/600 have it already and just needs to be enabled. Someone also mention that if you have vaccuum controlled cruise control under driver's side battery then NO it will not work. (read this somewhere can't find it right now)
clear as mud?

Does this cold idle feature come on a 2007 5.9 auto., if so how is it activated?

The TSB specificly address '04 MY trucks, not '03s, nor '04.5s. It's my understanding the reason it will not work on a MY '03 is that the '03 software is Chrysler's while the '04's is Cummins. Totally different software so no provision for the feature.

I think he means you have to take it to a dealer and have them do it with the computer thing. That's what I had to do on my '04. It's called "activated" not engaged.
