Is my fan clutch working???
Is there a simple test that I can do to make sure that my fan clutch is working properly. The fan spins so slowly that I can stop it with my hand. Please advise.

If you can do that it probably isn't working properly. You can have someone turn on the AC while you sit under the truck and watch to see if the fan engages. You should also have a code for cooling fan speed if it's not correct. The code won't make a CEL come on but is still present
Another sign is if your AC gets hot when stopped at idle. Mine went out at the end of last summer and I haven't replaced it yet. The part is electronically controlled and only available from Dodge. I checked all of the parts stores and they don't carry the proper one. Autozone said they did but it was the wrong part. The Dodge part was around $450 IIRC. I'm going to put in an electric fan instead for about $100 more.

I don't think mine engages with the AC, but I have heard it come on when driving stop and go through town on 110+ days.
I think it's normal for it to spin when the clutch is not engaged, but it doesn't have any power behind it.

Don't know about the 2004 but the 2006 fan spins up on a cold start for a half minute or so, then disengages. You can hear the roar if you goose the throttle.
Somebody posted this shop manual trouble shooting procedure a year or so ago. Usually a bad fan will throw a code.
Check the wiring to fan clutch. Disconnect the wiring harness from the fan clutch assembly.
NOTE: Check connectors - Clean/repair as necessary.
Measure the resistance between the signal circuit in the fan clutch assembly and the return circuit in the fan clutch assembly.
If the resistance less than 10 Ohms,
Replace the fan clutch assembly.

I received the P0483 code, and I checked for resistance between the signal circuit in the fan clutch assembly and the return circuit. I am showing no resistance or in other words an open circuit.

I replaced my fan clutch the other day. I still don't here it spin up when its up to running temp and idling, the temp gauge still goes over 200. I decided to switch the AC on to see if it would engage then. Still nothing and AC is blowing warmer air. Something that is really strange is when I'm driving and have the AC on it blows cold air, so my guess is that the fan clutch isn't engaging, am I right?
Any known fixes? I'm guessing wiring might be bad or even WORSE yet the ECU is faulty. I also heard that it could be a faulty Integrated Control Module (ICM) which control the electronic fans switching them on and off and the dealer has the scanner for the module.

IIRC you can also ground out Pin one on the diagram..
should make the fan clutch come on fairly quickly... as stated, the AC on full should kick it on as well... to the above poster.. it seems that your fan clutch is probably gone. at the truck idling, if you can stop it with your hand, its pretty much gone.. if you also see a P480 or P483 code, that is also indicating some trouble with your fan clutch.
you can also check the wiring at the connection, sometimes the fan will slice the wires, or check your grounds as well...
other times, and it has happened to me before, you get a bad fan clutch out of the box....
