mpg when loaded
does anyone else get better milage with a ton or two on thier truck than empty my 600 just got 19.9mpg with 2 tons of potatoes on it but when Iran home empty I only got 19.1. Same roads mostly U.S. 20 a hilly road up this way I'm guessing aerodynamic drag or wheel hop any thoughts?

Ummm, you drove the entire trip downhill with the load of potatoes?
I know our trucks run good, but in no way will it get better mileage weighing an additional ton or two.
What are you basing these numbers on? The overhead computer readout, or filling up at a station, with a few hundred miles on each tank? None of the above?
Be glad you've got a good one.
I've noticed that on our work trucks the mileage is almost the same with a loaded or empty trailer. Granted they are big trucks. I think that it has a lot more to do with wind resistance than anything else.
filled up after i unloaded hand calc. 19.9 filled up after I got home running unloaded hand calc. 19.1. My 99 got about the same empty or loaded but this discrepency seems pretty large.
