I personally don't think it's that good, no.

I see a couple of good tanks there, but your overall of 15.6 is right where I am with my '03, 47k miles. Hope it gets better for both of us.

Need to fill in your signature to see what you have for a truck. Any lift? I would assume it is a 4x4. Looks maybe average to a little lower than average. However, your fuel mileage is better than mine....

A lot of that average will depend on what you're doing with the truck.

Short trips to work and back? Highway? Towing, Hauling, etc? Lifted? Chipped?

Can't really compare your numbers to much at all.

For me, so far (Ive only had my 06 for a few months) I've gotten about 17.6 according to my Excel file; however, thats all unloaded, not towing, and mainly 60-65 on the interstate, but with a two week stint of short trips back and forth to work. The short trips brought my average down to about 14.5 after I filled up. So even though my other fill-ups have shown about 19, that two weeks of driving in town brought my mileage down a lot.

Hope that gives you a little to compare.

Have a good one.

its gotta be a lot of short trips right? cause your overall mileage per tank seems pretty low. have you done any long trips with it yet?

Most of the trips are short because it's my work truck. The longest trip I take consistently is about a 500 miles round trip. I do have the edge w/attitiude usually set at 3 & AFE intake. No lift on truck, but a little bigger tire can't remeber size. I am putting a Lorenz 5100 system as soon as it arrives.

I have consistently logged 19-20 mpg. I try to cruise at 1700 RPMs. These are city (short)and mountain (long) miles.

I have not kept as accurate of records as you but assume my average to be in the 15 neighborhood. I have about a 50/50 split of highway and city, about half of my highway has been hauling horses (8000-20000 lbs.) Nice data though.

First year avg. over all, "stop and go,highway, flat and mountains, towing 6K TT, and not towing, back and forth to work 24mi." = 14.88
2nd. year "same" = 15.7.
This is the third year and so far over all = 15.85, no towing or much highway yet this year.
Some tanks are in the mid 15's and some tanks are in the high 17's. occasionally I get one at 20 on long highway trips in the flat lands.

RCS72,

Have you calibrated your speedo for the slightly larger tire size. You may actually be slightly better mileage than you think. Difference between 265 and 285 tires usually yields a difference of about 4%...

I have 285/70 17 tires and I have not re-calibrated the speedo. What is the best way to recalibrate speedo?

See if you can get your clock to change minutes at every mile marker. Note the speed required to make this happen. It should be 60 mph of course. If not fool around with the math until you get some numbers that make sense. This is not the most expedient way to do this but it keeps you awake on a long drive.
