Yes, I'm pretty sure this is normal. I have heard many others on this forum report the same thing. My truck also did this. Also, your fuel economy will probably be better now too!

The Cummins is the oonly motor I've come across where it's very obvious when the motor is breaking in and has broken in. Even at only 2100 miles I've noticed mileage go up, oil pressure go up, and temps go down.

I towed a total of about 20 miles with it, highway with a 7500 lb trailer or so. Actually noticed a big difference right after that.
Also noticed the oil pressure increase on the drive up from Texas when I bought the truck.

I have a 2003 with a 4:10 gear and I towed another truck on a trailer for about 500miles. I got 16.3 miles per gallon! Me and my brother couldn't believe it. The power from the 305/555 is incredible. This is my first Cummins but It hopefully won't be my last.

I dunno about that, I kinda hope it's my last. As in I hope that this truck outlasts me!
I can picture 30 years from now my kids saying to me: "Dad, when are you going to get a new truck?" "When this one breaks." "But it's got 800,000 miles on it!" "It's not broken yet!"
Realistically I'll replace this one when it throws a rod, blows a transmission, or has some other major catastrophe like my last truck did. But when I replace this one it will definitely have to be with another Cummins.
