Maybe a stupid pipe question, but.........

I'm trying to change the pipes on the 600. The factory exhaust is clamped together with ubolt connectors. The ubolts have crimped the pipes together and I can't seperate each section.

Other than cutting the factory pipe, does anyone have a suggestion to get them apart.

PS I've already tried a sledge hammer!!!!!!!!

Either get a bigger hammer or cut that puppy off. You won't be needing it anymore.

cut off wheel on a grinder and slit the pipe in 2 spots where the crimp is [slit them perpundicular [sp?] to the crimp] and then start twisting, the pipe should expand a bit and come off [sawzall is quicker...]

Thanks for your imput.

This may sound wierd, but I'm trying to keep the oem pipes in tact, in case I need to replace them. ie Warranty and CAT issues and/or emmission test (not yet required in Knoxville TN).

SO... if at all possible, i'd like to gently remove it, with the option to replace if needed (HOPE NOT)

Good luck! I did mine at around 10,000 miles and ended up having to cut it all off. It doesn't take long for the rust to set in.....
