manual long crank?

Hey everyone, this is just a quick question from a thread right below this. Im lookin at a Mega 6spd. reading that thread though there was something about the 25 sec cranking times. Whats up with that? Is it norm and what causes it? I thought my 04.5 cranked long haha. my 99 shoots right off and the 04.5 obviously has to check all those darn sensors first. But whats diffrent on the 6 spds?

There was a TSB (re-flash) for the "long crank". Mine did it when I first got it, maybe one out of 50 now. I wouldn't call it 25 seconds though Anyone who keeps cranking after about 5-7 seconds isn't too bright (unless it's like a 1973 gasser or something )

I wouldn't sweat what you heard, as far as I know it was an across the board issue, not exclusive to the G-56.

Tell you what though, my old 2001 would fire over before you barely even got the key fully turned, I miss that.
(course, that's about ALL I miss! )

Long Crank

Mine had long crank time from day one, usually about 5-8 seconds and would fire up. It seemed to happen mostly when you turned off truck hot and then tried to crank truck a few minutes later. I had mine flashed @ dealer about 2 months ago and have not had the problem since. My fuel mileage seems to have gone up about 1mpg. I got 22.8 mpg on last tank (hand calculated).

Do you know what the build date of the truck is? Mine was built mid January, supposedly AFTER they had changed the software for the long crank.

I took it in anyway, they re-flashed it and it was better right away (turbo spooled earlier too, not sure what that was about?)

is it just for the manuals? I mean the 04 doesnt start near as well as the 99 well as fast i mean. starts lots better in the cold than the 99 does if i forget the wait light she starts lil white smoke and that s it. the 99 i forget and oh she doesnt like it haha. But the 04 sometimes starts after a second others theres a noticeable turn or two . who knows
