Any 75w90 GL-5 rated synthetic gear oil is fine. I use Mobil 1 with great results.........available at the local GhettoZone.

I've used Amsoil 75w90. Any GL-5 syn is fine. Took about 7.5 to fill er up with the Mag Hytec. Watch the torque on those bolts putting them on, very important not to overtighten them.

I have had good luck with Amsoil, tried Royal Purple and was not impressed at all.

What is the gl-5 rating mean. My father in law is a oil distributer and says he has Mobil Delvac1 75W90 Full synthetic Gear oil. BUt I can't find the gl-5 rating any wear on the bucket. Is this stuff okay?? He uses it in all his big trucks.

Why not RP? I have 8 quarts of 85-140 sitting in the garage waiting to be put in, I'd like to know if you have actual facts other than not impressed.

I have used Royal Purple since I first changed both diffs. No problems for me. I don't know how an oil can impress you anyway. It's #$%&@*# oil. It comes from the ground.

Only time I have seen oil impress me is when it's -30 and I'm using synthetic.
15W40 sure doesn't impress at those temps

Here is some reading I came across just doing a quick search. http://www.lubrizol.com/products/aut...ar-oil/GL5.asp

http://www.mobil.com/USA-English/Lub...scriptionTitle

If you look closely you will see the Mobil Delvac Syn it is also GL-5 rated.

I don't know if there is a difference......between Mobil 1 and Mobil Delvac or not. I use this....bought at Autozone---> http://www.mobil1.com/USA-English/Mo..._75W-90LS.aspx

Hope that helps.

Running 75W140 Valvoline Synthetic in my Mag Hytec. Took EXACTLY 8 quarts to fill it up. RP and AMSOIL are not readily available around here. Not really interested in ordering lube when I need it, like the idea of just going to the local Napa and buying it.
When it warms up and I get done with my in-laws PowerChoke, I'm gonna install my front Mag Hytec.
