Lucas Engine Oil

I just seen Lucas 15-40 engine oil at NAPA for 2007 and older diesel trucks with a higher TBN. It was $15 a gallon and was wondering if anyone else has seen it or better yet used it. Looks like it was made for the older diesel trucks without the DPFs. Might have to give it a try.

school me.
i use shell rotella 15w40 with mopar filters in my 2005 diesel.

what does this mean? (higher TBN)

I have used Lucas products before and they are OK, but do not know if i am ready to change to their oil brand.

Thanks,
Fred

I believe TBN is the thickness of the oil relative to its ability to hold contaminants away from engine parts. A real good website is bobisthe oilguy.com It has forums ALL about oil. LOL

TBN is Total Base Number. It has nothing to do with Viscosity (thickness).

"In short, a TBN (total base number) measures the amount of active additive left in a sample of oil."

I put Lucas 15w-40 in my '96 12 Valve Cummins recently after the first 500 mi. break-in. So, far seems to be working OK.
