LSD Options for AAM 11.5

Okay, I have an open differential on my 2500 4x4 truck (which doesn't make sense to me, but that it the way it comes). Who makes Limited Slip differentials for the AAM 11.50 axles? Obviosly, AAM does, but I'm looking for other vendors as well.

Additinally, Chevy/GMC uses AAM axles in their trucks. Will lockers/limited slip diff's that work in ther truck, work in mine?

I ask this because the drive train guy I called to install LSD in mine said they would.

No one? Am I the only one who is looking to convert the open diff in my truck to a LSD?

I read an article in a 4x4 mag, they said the internal diff was identicle to the Chevy 11.5 so any posi/limited/locker for a Chevy should fit our Dodge. At the time of the article they said only AAM made a limited slip but felt others would follow soon. Also they were very impressed with the 11.5 and that it should be atleast as or stronger than the Dana 70HD.

I will be watching for a Detroit Locker (have them front and back in my jeep). But... not recommended for towing so..... may have to wait for a air or ele locker to show up.

Enjoy

I looked high and low for a long time and the AAM was the only one I could find. Randy's Ring & Pinion had them in stock for about $517.00 which is HALF of what Dodge online wanted. Just arrived today and should be going in on Monday.

gypsyman, also, does Dodge put a LSD in the front diff in 4x4 trucks?

Unfortunately they don't. But I'll be checking the aftermarket and other possible cross applications over the next few days. Be forwarned that LS in the front axle can have some bad handling traits...

As noted in another thread.... the new Dodge PowerWagon (?) has selectable lockers front and rear; a limited slip 10.5in on the rear and an open diff 9.25in on the front, both with electrical switching. I have the 11.5in rear so the 9.25in up front looks attractive. With the nose heavy diesel a locker up front should work well.

The ele locker would be great up front!
