Low speed shudder solved
I've had the shudder for some time now (at least 6 months) that got progressively worse. I thought it was a bad u-joint at first, but didn't have one that was obviously bad until last month. After changing it out the shudder was worse. It got so bad that I wouldn't let my wife drive it 'cause it would freak her out. I don't drive the truck much lately so I was in no hurry to take care of it.
Thanks to the help of you folks on the forum I simply shimmed the carrier bearing about half an inch and now no shudder. The truck is driven unloaded most of the time, but we are likely buying a fifth wheel camp trailer soon. Will I need to remove shims according to load or is this a permanent fix? |
