Looking at a truck tomorrow...need to know what to look for

I'm sure your'e gonna get all kinds of advice, but the one thing I would do is, drive the truck along side a wall whether high speed or low (preferably both).
Listen for anything thats sounds bad. My friend bought one that had a tooth missing off third gear that he only heard when driving by a wall under power.
In my 99, I could only hear the u-joints clicking under decelleration against a wall.
