Since 1989 Cummins and D.C.had the agreement that the engines are sold to D.C. AS IS.! I'm sure its a money/deal thing. But Cummins DOES NOT reimburse D.C. for engine repair or replacment.Have NO CLUE to the Ford and whoever deal. The Duramax is a G.M.baby with Isuzu HELPING in the design.

"Been researching for the last 6 1/2 years and I have not come accross anything yet."

Really ?

So what are the parameters of the 05 in tank pump ?
Diameter ?
Length ?
Flowrate ?
Pressure capabilities ?
Does it have a built in pressure relief ?
Do you have a pressure/flow curve ?

Why are the stock fuel pumps failing ?

Why 6 1/2 years ? (I assume you mean 2nd and 3rd gen.) And if so, what is your solution in that time ?

From: Where hell freezes over.
The statement was made in relation to a direct bolt on lift pump that bolt to the fuel filter housing or engine block without haveing to buy extra parts. The only thing close is a carter pump from napa, summitracing or other places. Actually the block mounted pump is a carter/mogul pump.

Like I have said before the in-tank pumps have only been out for a short time and only time will tell if this is a better set-up.

Why are the lift pumps failing? Well there have been a number of speculations from heat, relief spring failure, vibration, injection pump pulsation, ECM not sending correct signal for correct voltage to lift pump, filter screen in lift pump disintegrating, poor fuel quality, too small fuel lines, banjo bolts too restrictive, pumps mounted in-line too far from fuel tank, Etc. Etc.

Ever since i bought a diesel truck. Solution, give the in-tank pumps time to see what or if. Other is after market pump of your choice. Sooo many to choose from. Do-it-yourself installations to full package type from aftermarketers. I replaced 4 lift pumps on my 99, I finally added a pusher pump for $130.00 wiring harness and all and had no problems after that.

Take a chill pill man, we are on the same page most of the time. But I will never relent on some one adviseing another person to give up their warranty unless they are willing to know the consequences.

Fuel pressure alarm

Thanks everyone for your input on my lift pump question. I think I will install a BD fuel pressure alarm for $55 to make sure I don't have a lift pump issue now or in the future. I just had my CP3 go out on my 2004.5 and I don't want that to happen again. I installed a new fuel filter at 12,500 miles, and I will make sure that I have over a half a tank of fuel until I get my fuel alarm. I don't know what I would do without these forums.

Thanks
