Lastly, according to service manager at my local dealer, any part installed that is not a Mopar part is considered an aftermarket. This of course does not your warranty automatically. However, if you have an injector problem and you show them that you have changed the fuel filter every 15,000 miles, but used Fleetguard Stratapore filters, be prepared to have your warrnty claim denied. This is because the Fleetguard filters do not have a Mopar P/N.

Very sad...
Time for a new dealer, that's just plain BS.

As far as the filters go, installing a better filter made by the same company that builds the motor...well . That situation could be easily resolved by a quick and cheap letter form an attorney stating that fact.

NOPE The Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act of 1975 states that if a company requires you to use only OEM parts to keep the warranty is illegal ,its called "Tie is sales". If they reguire use of only their product for their warranty they have to supply that product to you free of charge.

As long as the part meets or exceeds the factory specs they have to honor a warranty claim .. Harley dealers are the worst saying if you dont use their oil or filters it will void your warranty... Simple way to stop them - HAVE THE DEALER PUT IT IN WRITING ,,, they wont because they know its against the law

In short it has to be proven that the aftermarket part caused the failure. Now if you were using Fram oil filters well shame on you

So as I understand it the SM called Cummins and told them what the problem was, the part number and that they installed it for you on X date and at X miles on your truck and Cummins said tuff? Are you also saying that when you had it installed they did not write down what they installed on your truck, the mileage and what the part was & its part number? Also even though Dodge does not cover the part under Dodge warranty, Cummins should with proof of purchase and proof that a Dodge dealer installed it, when it was installed on your truck at X date and at X miles. Now if you don’t have the receipt (i.e. proof of purchase) to show on what date you bought or proof who installed it then yes you may have a problem

Check out this website
http://www.everytime.cummins.com/eve...am_braking.jsp

It gives both the Cummins part Number and the Mopar Part number, hope it helps.

When a dealer installs an accessory out of the mopar book it is added on the D/C database. When your vin is pulled up at ANY dealer it will show. This is how your warranty is found and shows the coverage is the same as the vehicle..........ie 3/36.
It liioks like your trying to save a couple bucks is costing you a few$ and a lot of stress.

Really sad considering that Fleetguard is a Cummins product!
