Interior Lights... Timer

Well, I got my truck back from the dealer late yesterday evening. Its been in for the interior lights going out 15 seconds after opening the door. Dealer said it was fixed, and stupid me didn't check before I left.
Got home, shut the truck off, got out, turned to get some stuff out of the truck and the lights went out. ARGH!!!. Grabbed the owners manual, read where it says that if the roller switch is pushed all the way up, the interior lights will stay on for 10 minutes, tried that, 15 seconds later, the lights go off. Read where if you turn on the cargo lights, the interior lights will also come on, tried that, cargo light came on, no interior lights!!.. Called the dealer, gonna take it back Saturday morning and let them look at it.
Does ANYBODY know the fix for this???.. Sounds like the load-shed timer has failed or the programming for the timer has issues, just guessing, but it seems logical to me.
I did a search for this topic and found where others have had the same problems, but haven't been able to find a thread that made reference to a fix/repair...... Any help is greatly appreciated.. Thanks, PMC.

Well, this aint good....Not one reply??? Nobody found a fix for this? Heard of it happening? Took it back to the dealership this morning, they hooked up to it and found that the timer was set to zero again. (Same thing they said last week when I took it in) I drove from the dealership by the bank, then home, and its doing it AGAIN!!!!!! Called the dealer and let them know, told them the truck HAD to work this weekend so I could not bring it back until next week.
Note: dealership has been great about all this though, they seem genuinely interested in getting this situation fixed, and offered to work on it again today if I wanted them to.
I remember the old days, when there was a little make/break switch in every door jamb, some wire, and a simple headlight switch....If it didn't work, change the bulb!!!..Gotta love technology sometimes..
Any suggestions are greatly appreciated, Thanks..

No help on the fix but my '06 does the same thing. Kinda annoying but not annoying enough to take my truck to the dealer.

Part of my issue with this is that the way all the electronics are intergrated these days, whatever is causing this might migrate its way into something more critical. That, and the fact that for what vehicles cost these days, I guess I kinda expect everything to work. Dealer is suppose to call Star technical Monday and see if they can get some support on this.

The dealer can program the time in the ECM with their scanner. I had them do mine to 30 or 40 seconds prior to taking delivery.

Your truck is run by computer simular but different than the one your using right now. When your computer goes on the fritz you reboot it. Disconnect your battery cables (both batteries) for I think 10 minutes turn on your key to drain any residual current for a few minutes and then shut key off . Reconnect your battery cables (both batteries) and it should work again. That's all I had to do and almost a year later no problems.

Well, it seems to be fixed. They got ahold of Star Technical and they suggested a re-flash of the CCM. So that was done and its been 3 days and everything is working properly now. They say if the problem returns, S.T. told them to replace the entire harness "cluster".

FESTUS.... That has already been done several times. When they would reset the timer, it would last about an hour them "freak out" again. When they would hook the scan tool back up, the timer would mysteriously be reset to (0) again.....

Just to let you know, I don't think the interior lights are supposed to come on while the cargo lights are on. Thats one thing I love. You can acually see out the back at night. The cargo lights are useless if the interior lights are on too.

Big Smoky.... Maybe I wasn't very clear about the scope of the issue I had... When I would shut the truck off, open the door to get out, the light would go out after about 10-15 seconds. Drivers door still open!. Leave it open, and open a rear door, the light would come back on for approx. 10-15 seconds then go back out. Close one door and the light would come back on for 10-15 seconds then go back out. The little manual wheel by the headlight switch, roll it up fully to manually turn on the interior dome light, it would come on for 10-15 seconds then go out. Didn't matter whether the doors were open or not. Seems to still be working.

Mine is doing the same thing and the dealer is telling me it's normal. BS!! I told them about the re-flash CCM deal and they said they tried it and it's still doing it. They said they had two others it there before witht he same problem and that there is no fix so it's normal. I told them about contacting star technical (which they should do with out being told) and they are supose to call them today. I am not picking my truck up until this is fixed. For over $40K the truck should be right and everything working correctly. Unlike your dealer mine seams to walk/talk around issues and spends more time trying to get out of doing things. Plus trying to pull a fast one on my for fluid changes and Bsing me instead of telling me that they mis quoted me a price for fron/rear diff and transfer case fluid change.

Poor mans...

My truck does the same exact thing... i get home from work all tired and its dark out, turn off the truck and swing open the door and as im stepping out poof the lights go out and I darn near fall on my behind. Also, when mine started doing the light thing, the 4wd light in the dash stopped working...who knows?

Mine is still working today, guess its been about 2-3 weeks or so now. Dealership even called me the other day wanting to know if it was still acting right. SBRW, I agree COMPLETELY, for what vehicles cost these days, it should work EXACTLY like the owners manual says it should.
Deerfarm, not sure if the 4wd light was/was not working... to be honest, my truck has only been in 4WD once since new. But glad I had it when I needed it!!!

Dealer flashed my truck and as of Friday when I picked my truck up the lights are working properly. I didn't use my truck all wkend so hopefully they stay working. Get your trucks to the dealer and have them reflash just as poormanscat stated. Thanks it worked so far for me.
