Injector Pump replaced at 24K miles

I noticed a small fuel leak on my garage floor after my truck was sitting in the same place for about a week strait. I took it into my local Dodge dealer and they found out it was my injector pump leaking, and they replaced it under warranty. My truck is a 05’ with 24K miles and it lives in a garage and is not daily driven, however gets out about every 3 days and gets ran to operating temperature. I run about 10oz of power service, the appropriate colored bottle for weather, per fill up. It has gotten into the single digits here recently, however the truck is in a heated garage and I know there is no problem with possible gelling of the fuel or a past of gelled fuel. I also get my diesel fuel from a high turnover truck stop. My question is, how common of a problem is this, at such a young age of 24K miles? From what I have read on the forms, I do not see too many threads about it.

Not uncommon at all. Do a search on CP3, and you will have HOURS of reading.

Mine went at about this time last year, with only 18,000 miles on a stock truck. Same drill, noticed a small leak.

Lucky this is a warranty item, because they are expensive.

I assume you guys are talking about the High Pressure Fuel Pump that feeds the common rail system?

Where is the leak? I'd just like to know for future reference. Do you know whats leaking on the pump? Any pictures?

Dave

Thank you Coastal.....no injection pump on the common rail. Just a two stage pressure pump.

Sorry, but I don't have any pictures of it, I just had surgery and cannot crawl under the truck for a while. I saw it leaking and took it to Dodge and let them crawl under it. It was a leak on the drivers side of the motor, towards the front.
