How many running Bio-diesel
 

Ok just like it states, how many of you are running bio and in what mixes, or straight. Whats your opinion and results been thus far. Notice any changes good or bad, fuel mpg. The whole thing, lets hear it. Thanks.

I run a soy formula B-100 as often as I can go to Fort Worth for it. Usually fill when I am at 1/2 tank, so the mix is probably equivlent to a B-50. I first started using it OCt. of 2005. No ill effects to date, nor am I concerned that there would be any. Engine runs smooth, exhaust has a differant smell but have not seen any noticable drop in mileage or power. I do hand calculate my MPG also. Price is slightly less than dino locally.

B-5 when I can't find the good stuff. I really haven't noticed any difference in noise, performance or mileage, and the price doesn't seem to differ between the two much either.

I retired in 2005 after 43 yrs in the petroleum industry driving tankers. I can't vouch for other parts of the country.............but from what I saw here in the Pacific Northwest, Bio-Diesel has no quality controls and comes from too many different sources to be consistant in grade.

I have had to pump-out more than one tank of Bio-Diesel that was pure junk and totally plugged up any filter system that it came in contact with. I viewed it as embarrassing to deliver this stuff. I can only hope that since 2005 the quality has improved. I, for one, wouldn't use this stuff in a diesel-powered lawn mower if I had one. (Now there's an idea!)

Everyone is quick to jump on the "Green" bandwagon...............I guess I'll have to sit on the tailgate of this wagon.

B-20 fairly regularly. Never a fuel problem, mileage problem or filter issue. Engine runs quieter too.

2% in every tank here in MN. It's the law.

Good info guys. With the rising price of dino fuel, I thought I may start buying some Bio in bulk "300+gal" or more and was curious of the effects of it on our trucks. I have ran a couple hundred gallons of it in mine, but was wondering the long term effects if any. I can save 15 or so cents a gal. and figured every little bit would help, since I put around 50k to 60k miles a year on my truck.

in areas that are hot and then cool a bit at night be carefull about algea growth in your 300 gallon tank use a fuel treatment to keep algea from growing it will clog everything up lol now I have never had this problem myself but some otr semi drivers warn me all the time whenever they see me putting bio in my pickup (I drive about 80000-100000) miles a year lol so I come into contact with alot of otr truckers)

I use a commercial soybase bio out of denver,sold in s. AZ. Have used it in 05 since new in mixtures from b-99 down to b-50 in winter.No problems in 22K miles.somtimes cheaper than diesel, but sometimes a few cents more,but at least the profits arn't going over seas.

Exactly! Every gallon of Bio I use is keeping money here instead of the middle east.

AMEN. Keep those $$$ over here. I just as soon put a few extra dollars in a farmers pocket, or even a american refinery than send it to the middle east.

that's cool what company is it? I live just north of denver and I've always been happy with the bio I get here ran alot of b100 through my old 12 valve
