High rail pressure SMARTY

Good Morning

I am wondering if anyone can give me some insite on this and if there is resion for alarm. I am 1300 miles from home and after stoping for a breeak and then returning to the highway I got a engen check light and loss of power on the on ramp of I-10. After pluging in my Smarty the code was High Rail Pressure. After returning the program to stock from Econ.. The code went away. I am in NM for a Elk hunting trip and am wondering if I will be able to make it back to FL when the hunt is over. When problum happened EGT went to over 1000 Boost went to 25-30 lots of smoke and no power.

Thank you
SGT Kirkpatrick USMC

Check all your plugs along the driver side of the engine head, especially the rp sensor right behind the air intake horn. And if you get a chance unplug your batteries for an hr or so. The rp sensor is known to fail, but keeping it clean and using some dielectric grease can help prolong its life. I have had the same code pop up on me before and havent had a problem since it last happened over a yr ago.

Thanks I just cleaned the FCU and replaced the fuel filter. I had a bunch of crud in the botom of the fuel bowl. How do I go about cleaning the RP sensor. And how much is a new sensor to keep in the glove box in case break down on the road and what is the going price. Thanks and I will check all other plugs and sensors.

what part of NM are you in right now. If you are close to Albuquerque and need help just hollar. if the rail sensor went out, it will go to max rail psi and run and sound like a 12 valve (been there done that).

Well got back to Florida...right as the fuel light came on I got a high rp dtc again. I am geting small amounts of water and dirt out of the fuel bowl drain. Lift pump is still working and fca still clicks when key is turned on. Haven't messed with the presure sensor yet. This time she died going down the highway. Got her limped to a gas station put diesel in and so far she is running. ...... Any advice.

May seem rude but dont let your fuel light come on. I'm thinking you are getting sediment from the bottom of the tank that hasnt circulated. If you are gettin dirt and water in the fuel then I would also be looking for an alternative filter setup with better filtration and a good additive. Heet makes a good water remover for diesels, look for a red bottle.

Sorry it took me so long. The light came on just before it died. I may have got it from a fuel station some where. Any ideas where to get a good lift pump/filtration with out breaking the bank. I will definatly try using a good additive to try to get rid if the water. Droping and cleaning the tank is a thought too. Thanks.

I would look at the Airdog100, it will give you better filtration, more pressure, and a lifetime warranty. You can get one for about 500 bucks. I got one and never looked back.
