HELP! Transmission Hunting for Gear
HELP! Transmission Hunting for Gear
2007 5.9L automatic. Just started to head to lake with the boat behind the truck. Initially the truck felt like it did not want to shift out of first. Hit the highway and the truck shifted fine and as we started to pull a long hill it started to rev up like it was in nuetral. Pulled off the side of the road-checked fluid level-ok. Put in first gear initially, turned around and drove back home in drive with it shifting ok but at higher rpm than normal. Then after it downshifted to make the turn home it seemed to be stuck in first again. Shifted between drive and first, second and it started shifting again in drive. Upon getting home, crawled under the truck and checked shift linkage. The big solenoid that the shift cable goes into is ringing (humming) in all gears when the key is in the acc position (not running). Any thoughts? Believe it is a 48RE and have been consistent on tranny fluid changes every 30k.
Mine is doing similar. First gear doesnt slip but sometimes stays engaged to long (revs to high). I have to back off on the pedal to let it shift into second. Second gear slips alot. I almost cant accelerate or it feels like it falls out of gear or is in nutral. Once Im in third I can push the pedal down and go. Second gear is almost useless. I replaced the governer pressure sensor and the solenoid, adjusted the front and rear bands. Still the same. I've come to the conclusion that the front band is bent or completely worn. Unfortantly I am making preparations to do a complete tranny rebuild within the next few weeks. I will be odering the master overhaul kit from ATS and a Transgo shift kit.
Thanks for the tip Spooler. The truck didn't kick a code until after it had been started three times but the solenoid and the sensor fixed the issue. Good luck Skipit%0 with your rebuild-sorry to hear your original parts replacement didn't work.
