Help!..no power
Alright guys i need input...my truck has lost it's kick. I have been noticing it getting sluggish over the past few months but just figured I was getting use to the power. Well now I'm thinking different. I recently drove a buddy's '05 and got into it once and it shocked me to the point I pampered it the rest of the day. His is set to tow on his BD triple and it has more umph than my truck on performance. My 600 vs. his 610 shouldn't make that much difference. I tried the TPS reset (waited 45mins. with batts unhooked). Also have had a rough idle for about 4 months. Hardly noticable but you can hear the difference in the exhaust. Buddy says it sounds like a gas engine missing. My first diesel so I'm basically learning as I go. My buddy is on his 5th cummins. So I kindy have to go with what he says. Any ideas on things to check? also Fuel filter changed regularly so I know that shouldn't be it. Right now it's stock...no triple dog or outlook.

Dealer swapped it out under warrantee. Back on the road again...[guitar] Any codes? |
no power
No codes as of right now. Thought maybe clearing ecm would fix it or actually put out some codes but no such luck. I took it in when rough idle started but tech was unable to find anything. Said more than willing to replace injector if he had something to show to DC that it is bad. He also said "I didn't see the bullydog outlook"[whistle]. We talked on the phone for 30mins. about ideas. He said try cleaning it out with combo of Power service and MMO. Tried that and no change. I thinking of trying it again when I run truck to Indy next week. Should be long enough of a run to really clean it out.

I see that you have the outlook... does it show you what fuel pressure you have going to the CP3? Also when was the last time that you changed the fuel & air filter? Also when was the last time you adjusted your valves & your forward transmition band? I know that when I just did my trans band it made it feel like I gained 50hp! I would also check you oil level to see if it went up any. That would be a sign of a leaking injector.

my truck is doing the exact same thing. started sounding like it was skipping about 2 mos. ago and i just thought it was because of the cold. now it feels like it is starting to lose power. took it to the dealership and they said they couldnt find anything wrong with it. i was fixing to post the exact samething as ctd211.

power
I usually keep up on fuel filter and I have a airaid air that I cleaned a couple of months ago. Didn't think about the oil. Will check for diesel smell or over capacity. Thanks

Are ya'll running fuel pressure gauges? If you are on the stock lift pumps, that is probably your problem. They probably can't keep up with the fuel demands that the Bully Dog is putting on it. Plus you may be starving your CP3 injection pump.
That seems to be the most common failure on our trucks is the stock lift pump. I replaced mine with a GDP 392 Walbro pump before it had a chance to go out on me and leave me stranded. And, I am now running at least triple the fuel pressure I was stock. |
