alrighty guys help me out here as I can start the truck and find the problem at the same time. In the morning or when i go home ( after sitting for a very long time) when i start my moms 07 there is a grinding noise on the right side of the engine. maybe grinding isnt the right sound. At first I thought i was the ac clutch slipping. but ive shut off all my deforst and everything so it shouldnt be engaging so now im at a loss as to what it is. it does it once maybe twice when its first started then never does again

Any ideas?

Can you have someone start the truck for you while your looking under the hood? I wonder if it's the alternator whining while the intake heater is cycling.

 

if i remember right, i think the ac pump cycles every once and a while, even if the switch is off.

 

My 2008 is doing the same thing? After it sits overnight, a couple seconds after starting, doesn't matter if trans is in Park or Drive, there's this momentary grinding/engaging noise. Anyone else heard this?
