Getting HOT
Well the other day I pulled my 25' gooseneck with my JD tractor to a job and one of the roads to get there was up a pretty good grade hill but I had my Juice set on level 2 it held about 30 MPH up the hill my EGTs never went past 1095 degrees, but when I got to the top my engine temp was 212 degrees. this just didn't look right to me. I figured that my EGTs would have gone way up no my engine temp.
any ideas?? |

Ohhhhh...
I was thinking that it had a 190 in it, but I have never seen the engine temp go past 192 until I pulled this hill. |
Let me re-phrase. The Thermostat starts to open between 186-193 degrees, it's completly open @ 207 degrees. ;)

Too Hot would be around 230*.
It's called safe zone for a reason. Don't be scared. Most likely what was causing your high temps were very high transmission temps. Don't even flinch on water temperature as long as it is stable. What were your trans temps? I bet 250*+ Merrick |
Well I don't really know what my trans temp was. I have not put in a gauge yet.
