Genos metal fuel filter cap ?????

Hey there guys, thought I would run this by you all. I bought the genos polished aluminum cap several months ago and used it with the 7 micron premium filter on my 2006 before I sold it. The 7 micron filters fit snug but PERFECTLY into the cap for instillation. I just got my order of 7 micron filters from Genos and was going to install the cap on my 07 but the filter would absolutely not fit into the Aluminum cap.... I didn't want to shave it or anything until I ran this by you all. Are you having the same difficulties??? Thanks!!

it will fit... just very tightly! I use my cap to feed my fuel pressure gauge. The filter fits so tight fuel can't get by it to feed the gauge so, following what someone else he did... I have to cut notches all the way around the top of the filter in the plastic so the fuel can get by.

The fuel enters through the center of the filter and exits out the sides so, if you have to cut a little to get it in... your not hurting anything.

I don't run the pressure gauge, I use it because it is a stouter piece of equipment for the truck rather than the plastic one. Yes, both are 5.9's. I just called Genos and they said the Fleetguard once again slightly changed the configuration of the top of the cap. The FILTER ITSELF fits nicely into the canister, it just does NOT fit into the cap like it used too! Genos said I could shave a little off the top if I had too. We'll see.

This isn't the first time I heard of people having filter fitment issues, and I've noticed they started after Fleetguard redesigned the filter. Anyone else having issues?

The new Napa 3585XE (7 micron) filters have a thinner top that the older style Napa 3585 (10 micron) filters. They may work better with the Geno's cap.

Thanks for the advice but I am going to keep with my stock cap. I may just order a spare "Cap" in case. If anyone is interested in the Cap, I will sell it for $30 plus shipping. I paid 59.00 + shipping from genos. It is in pristine condition and has about 3,000 miles of use on it. Just PM ME..
