Hello, new to the forum. I am in the midst of purchasing my first 2500 Cummins. Can someone tell me what the difference is between the regular and the HO cummins. Some dealers are telling me the HO is 325 HP since 2003. I thought the 325HP was just on trucks after Dec 2/03 for 2004 models. Can someone shed some light on this. Also I am not pulling crazy loads rather the holiday trailer, boat, quads, sleds and such. Which gears should one get 3.73s or 4.10s ? Is it worth buying the 04 or is the 03 virtually the same. thanks

 

The new HO is 325HP/600 lb ft torque which replaced the old HO (305/555) and the SO (250/460)* for 2004.5 in December.

*235HP in Calif, Maine, & Mass

 

I would buy the new 600 sounds like a great machine. Just get what you want the first time b/c it's cheaper in the long run.
