Fuel Injectors for 2003 5.9L Cummins Unavailable

Bosch appears to have back ordered these injectors to their suppliers as well as Cummins at least in the Western US. Dodge Dealers have overstocked and at an inflated price.

My 2003 was diagnosed as needing injectors replaced because of non-starting when cold. The tech at the Dodge Dealer who did the testing, (cost $390), is someone I trust. They quoted $4800 to replace all 6 injectors.

My truck is sitting at a local independent shop, Ward's Automotive. Ward's Quoted $3500 to replace the 6 injectors. He contacted the Dodge dealer for a price for injectors. The price Dodge quoted was $1000 more than the Bosch supplier.

I am wondering if Dodge has seen a rapid increase in fuel injector failure and as a result overstocked to dry up the supply and freeze out the independent shops.

1.5 months ago, bosch was backordered 15,000 (YES 15K) injectors. the upgraded bodies are highly desirable. the overstock at the dealer is what they had on the shelf. its a supply and demand thing. they know bosch is backordered and nobody can get them (took me nearly 2 months to get my last set I ordered) so they can ask a higher price.

I would search for a certified Bosch fuel shop that has the new common rail stand. The number of shops that have new C/R stands are small. The shop I work at got the C/R stand in a few weeks ago but it will be a few more weeks before the setup is complete and up in running.

Unhappy Good & Bad News on Injectors

The good news on the back ordered injectors for my 2003 Ram is that Bosch shipped 80 of 100 injectors to their distributor. The bad news there were not enough to supply any to the dealer where my truck is parked. I've been waiting for over 5 weeks now without my truck. The shop where my truck has a 2nd Ram needing injectors. The rebuilders can't get parts to rebuild injectors. This is definitely poor planning on the part of Bosch. I need my truck!

Sent mine for 06 to F1 and got them back in three weeks. they are great. you have to find a dealer close to you and send them to them or they will let you send them direct to F1 and then F1 send them back. Good Luck.

I don't know what kind of money you're looking at having to spend for the injectors themselves but here's a new set on ebay for $2100. Just punch in 140418307042 into the search and it'll bring them up...
