Got it. So is the stock Mopar filter more similar to the Stratapore version or the standard?

Can you put a pic on here of how you have no problem putting a wrench on...

They use UPS also, being Valentines week probably isn't helping either.

Maybe you guys need to get one of those hand squeezers to tone your hand muscles! I just reach up in there, tighten it as directed, and when oil change time comes again, I reach up in there and loosen it. It doesn't come easy, but once you get is started it comes right off. I used to fiddle around with 1/2 ratchet extensions and that orange thing Geno's sells to take the filters down then realized I don't even need it. I bought it after I had to disassemble the entire air intake tract to get the factory filter out because it must have been tightened with an impact wrench. When tightened normally, I have no trouble doing them by hand. The hardest part is getting the filter back down without tipping it!

We ordered from scheiddiesel.com. They gave us a little better price than what was advertised. Their fuel filters were a couple $s cheaper than Genos. They do charge shipping.

I'm not sure on the numbers but when I had my 03 I was told that the earlier oil filters would fit but they had a thinner base plate or something and the filters had been redesigned for the Gen 3 trucks. I bought my first filter from Dodge because I couldn't find the right filters at the time. then I found Geno's

I bought the filter wrench from NAPA... because I used to do them 'by hand' I had a filter fall off a racing engine...$$$ now I want them "snug"

and after I heard how 'Fram' failed and warranty did not cover the damage... I only use "Fleet Guard Stratapore"...

Im just using a metal oil filter wrench, that tightens as it bends when you turn it...
I pull off the air intake hose and grab it from the top...

the 3894 is the same filter (inside) as the 16035. there was a post on this awhile back. i personally contacted the tech dept at fleetguard because some members insisted that the 3894 was different inside compared to the 16035 because the 3894 is listed for the older year trucks. same exact media inside per fleetguard-just cheaper because it is not fluted. i also used the 3894 and have had no problem removing the filter.

To add to your post I also contacted Fleetguard on the phone about the two different filters you listed above an I got the same answer as you, but at the time they also ask me if I towed alot with my truck, such as pulling heavy loads everyday. I said no I don't, they then said if I did they recommend the 3894 filter over the 16035 filter saying the 3894 seems to be stronger canister design since it was not fluted. Now things may have changed since then, but that's what they told me back in 03 when my truck was new. I use the 16035 myself and have had no problems with it and have had good reports on oil samples I receive back for good filtration.
