Finally!!! Fleetgaurd cross for factory Air Filter!

I stopped by my local Cummins dealer today for fuel and oil filters and happened to ask if the air filter had been crossed yet. He told me that the warehouse had just called him and said they had them in stock! I called Fleetgaurd to verify the number and it is correct...

p/n AF26106

price $11.70

This may be old news to you guys but it's new to me.

hijacking your thread...
I got to thinking how much each brand of truck was going to cost for a filter change...

Ford air filter: $58.95
Ford fuel filter: $45.95
Ford oil filter: $ 21.95

ford total: $126.85
-------------------------------------
Duramax air filter: $22.95
Duramax fuel filter: $29.95
duramax oil filter: $13.95

Duramax total: $56.85
-------------------------------------
dodge air filter: $26.95 (I see they are available cheaper...)
dodge fuel filter: $11.95
dodge oil filter: $9.75

dodge total: $48.65

prices were taken from geno's garage.
$78.20 diffrence from ford to dodge.... what do you have planed for that "extra" cash.... I'm filling up the truck and going fishing.....[laugh]

Thems fighting words buddy. :D You didn't use dealers prices on the dodge to compare? I know with my '97 PSD I never gave anywhere near that total for filters. You price a fuel filter from dodge lately? Ouch!!

westcoaster 06-12-2004 09:15 AM

I didn't use dealer prices...
I found them all here: http://www.genosgarage.com/ (as stated in origional post)

I would be interested to find out what dealer prices are on the 6.0 ford filters. I understand you can end up paying $100+ for an air filter alone. The prices I looked at were for the newest trucks ('03 and up):)

So does the Fleetguard come with the fuzzy stuff on the back of the filter? When I bought my truck, it didn't have it. When the dealer replaced the filter for the first time, it did.
I have since gone to and AFE ProGuard 7, but I was just curious about the Fleetguard.

Gypsyman 06-13-2004 01:01 PM

I don't know yet. I should have my order in by monday or tuesday.

Maccandy 06-14-2004 08:55 PM

Gypsyman,
Will that fit the 2004.5 ?? How does it compair with the stock filter?

Gypsyman 06-15-2004 02:10 PM

I don't know about the 04.5, I'm not up to speed on them yet. I don't have any specs on the filter and Fleetgaurd hasn't released them to my Cummins dealer yet for some reason. Still waiting...

I just replaced my air filter with a Wix. Mine was pretty bad and needed one in a hurry. Wix doesn't have that 1/4" thick fuzzy thing on it though.

What is this for and is it required?

Gypsyman 06-16-2004 11:57 AM

It's a form of prefilter for the larger debris if memory serve correctly.
