exhaust brake

Has anyone installed one on an 05 or earlier model with a 48re trans? Pacbrake has one but suggest you use a ATS Co-Pilot.It's a torque converter locking device & ecm bypass. I talked to a parts guy at the dealer & he said part numbers for the Trany & torque converter are the same for the 06 & 05. He said the ecm numbers different. So I'm guessing the ecm bypass & co- pilot aid in keeping your rpm's high enough for efficient braking. I would like to hear from someone that has installed one?

06 and up, the ECM will lockup the TC and downshift as needed with an exhaust brake installed.

05 and earlier, the ECM doesn't know anything about locking up the TC for an exhaust brake. With an e-brake installed and used without a tranny controller (commander or co-pilot), there will be damage.

Pacbrake is good and you absolutely want something like the co-pilot that looks the TC. You can wire your own switch, but if you forget... Oops.
